This is the South

A barbecue sandwich with fries, slaw, and sweet tea from Hudson's. And a new treat: fried green beans, which didn't sound good, but were really tasty. I would definitely order them again.

A table set for the holiday tour in Douglasville, GA, west of Atlanta. Happens to be my cousin's house and I got to help decorate it.

I'm just back from GA, having spent Thanksgiving with my mother and relatives. Hope to put some more photos up soon.

Getting ready pt.3

I will share a few of my practice collages and when I take photos of others will add them, too.

Getting ready pt. 2

Mod Podge is your friend.
All these little containers are ready to go to the collage workshop tomorrow. Everybody gets one along with a canvas panel. Should be fun. I hope to post photos of the collages that are made, so check back.

Getting ready

Getting ready for the art workshop on collage, I have run across some great resources. Since collage is so therapeutic, what could be better than ordering 5 or 6 books to spark imagination and inform my own work? Then I can (here's the justification) do a better job of facilitating the collage time in a couple of weeks. Doing some practice pieces to demonstrate styles and techniques really has been therapeutic for me. I haven't done any art about the hospital and my dad because it's still in a little whirlpool in my mind. The right brain will have to spin it out in time. I am mostly enjoying creating backgrounds that are becoming collages on smaller subjects.

My favorite find is Journal Revolution by Linda Woods and Karen Dinino, sisters who encourage everyone to rise up and create! Thanks to Linda I am laughing away some stress and sadness, too. Visit her blog.
